Integration and Querying of Heterogeneous Omics Semantic Annotations for Biomedical and Biomolecular Knowledge Discovery

Exploring various functional aspects of biological cell system has been focused research area from last many decades. Biologists, scientists and researchers are continuously striving for unveiling the mysterious functional aspects of cellular system to improve the health standards of life. For getting such understanding through analyzing omics data requires heterogeneous and geographically dispersed omics data in well integrated and structured manner. Currently, omics data is available in different types and formats through various data access interfaces. Applications which require off-line data (e.g. for knowledge discovery) face lot of data heterogeneity and geographical dispersion related issues. For taking full benefits of current state-of-the-art data analyses techniques, heterogeneous data must be collected, integrated and warehoused in such a loosely coupled way so that each molecular entity can computationally be viewed independently or in association with other entities within or across the various functional aspects of cellular system. In this paper we propose an omics data integration model, which takes heterogeneous molecular sequence omics data and integrates it according to functional aspects of a cellular system. A software system, which shows significance and usefulness of proposed data integration model, is also within the scope of this study.
