Title of Workshop : Measuring and Monitoring Software Quality through Optimization Metrics
Presenter :
Muhammad Imran Sarwar, Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science, UET, Lahore
Description :
Software testing is the process used to measure the quality of developed software. Controlling the quality of a system is impossible if you cannot measure or monitor it. It is important to understand key areas like maintainability, reliability, and performance in a software system that requires measurement. In this workshop we begin with an introduction of such metrics and then present a tutorial on using different tools like Emma, JUnit and others for determination and examination of these parameters.
Title of Workshop : Open Source Java Reporting with Jasper Reports and iReport
Presenter :
Mohammad Ali / Maria Chaudhry, Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science, UET, Lahore
Description :
Jasper reports is a powerful reporting tool which can be embedded in all types of applications, ranging from those that allow user interactivity to printed forms, invoices, quick creation of large number of reports, and other complex operational reports. The generated output report can be in pdf, html, csv, xml, xls files which can easily be integrated in java desktop, web and j2EE applications. Defining the report structure in xml is painful and not worth rewarding. As an alternative we can use another open source tool written for Jasper Reports. iReports lets you define your front end design with ease and flexibility. This workshop is designed at providing a brief introduction of integrating iReports through Jasper engine in Netbeans IDE.
Title of Workshop : Eclipse Plug-in Development
Presenter :
Zahid Iqbal and Sarfaraz Alam, Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science, UET, Lahore
Description :
Eclipse provides an open source platform for creating an extensible integrated development environment for anything but nothing in particular. To achieve this Eclipse provide capabilities not only to make products but also to make tools for building products that integrate seamlessly with Eclipse. The core to seamless integration of tools with Eclipse is Plug-in. A plug-in is the smallest extensible unit in Eclipse. Everything in Eclipse is implemented as plug-in expect for a small runtime kernel. Eclipse provides plugin development environment (PDE) to develop plug-ins. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce Eclipse plug-in functionality. We begin with an introduction of Eclipse plug-in followed by a tutorial on how to develop Eclipse plug-in with PDE.
