FOURIER ANALYSIS

Fourier analysis plays an important part in analysis of signals and systems. This technique enables us to represent a periodic signal as scaled sum of sinusoids and co-sinusoids and to determine how much of various spectral components are present in the original waveform. This gives an insight about the fundamental frequency i.e. frequency of the first harmonic and the subsequent harmonic components in the signal. Mathematically, for any periodic signal f(x), we have

Experiment of Fourier analysis can be performed on FlexTrainer. After Fourier analysis of the applied signal, the FlexTrainer also displays the strengths of first six harmonics making up the signal.

There are a few interesting questions at the end of the experiment concerning the experimental observations.
