Biography

Jamshaid Iqbal Janjua established his ‘MSCS’ degree from PICS, Faculty of Information Technology, University of Central Punjab, Lahore in 2009. Previously he received the ‘Master in Computer Science’ degree from Institute of Management Sciences (Pak-Aims) in 2002. He also holds a ‘MBA in Human Resource Management’ degree from Institute of Management Sciences (Pak-Aims) in 2007. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Computer Science. He is working as Sr. Manager Research at KICS.

Major Projects

1) Project Title: Unmanned Remote Grid Control & Monitoring Device System

Description:

The Pakistan's first remote-control 66-kV grid station at Bakhshan Khan, Hasilpur; had started working in MEPCO region on 13 May 2017. The grid station is controlled and operated through remote-control for the load shedding management and auto fault detection and alarm system. The Second grid at 132 KV Sahiwal was also followed to be converted to Unmanned Remote Grid on 16 July, 2017. Further 10 MEPCO grids stations are up next to be converted to Unmanned Remote Grids. The project equipment hardware indigenous manufactured at ESESS Lab at KICS and delivered 100% to MEPCO in Phase -1. Two-way interactive Central Command and Control Management System is the enterprise software developed at KICS and serves as the backbone for seamless communication of the Unmanned grid stations deployed at MEPCO region. The complete system inclusive of remote grid control devices, firmware, data acquisition and central remote management information portal has been developed indigenously at ESESS lab in joint venture with MEPCO.

“Sports Portal Punjab” is an enterprise grade management information system planned, designed and developed, for customized needs of the multi-disciplinary events information & management. It is a web and network-based application developed for the Sports Board Punjab. It is equally social, interactive communication portal, interconnected with call center to online services as well as provides huge searching features for detailed user requirements. This project is aimed at improving service delivery and Structural Reform in light of business process re-engineering for administrative body internal control resulting in improved Service Delivery in the holistic vision. It has the core capability to address the maximum facilitation of mass public by providing most frequently updated information on multi-discipline events in various sectors in an effective and efficient manner. Portal provides shall provide numerous online services e.g. Festival Information & Guidelines, Union Council, Tehsil, District Levels Schedules and Committees Detailed Information Access, Results, News, Galleries, Video, Links, Online Registration of events with massive registration rates of more than 5-10k daily. The events in connection with Punjab Youth Festival 2014, National Punjab Youth festival 2014, International Punjab Youth Festival 2014 with associated 10 more Festivals and other Mega Events in addition to Guinness World Records, etc.

3) Project Title: Client Feedback & Complaint System for Sports Facilities in Punjab

Description:

Client Feedback & Complaint System has an objective to improve service quality and to facilitate sports facilities members, being a robust online web based system, it is capable to cater all types of complaints and feedbacks effectively and timely. In this system members and guests gets registered and can check status of their complaints and feedbacks. Administrator can review the feedbacks and mark them as Recommended or Not Recommended for further processing. Staff is enabled to process the complaint by tagging responsible persons and setting the particular severity against each person. Administrators can view different type of charts and reports to quickly analyze the system. Additionally, the administrators can filter Complaint and Feedback Reports Type wise, Time wise and other similar Parameters according to severity of the event notified.

The smart phone users are increasing at a rapid rate because decrease in price, low-cost data bundles by cellular service providers and announcement of 3G technology launch in near future.Mobile Phone Applications, on Android, iOS, Windows, and BlackBerry platforms, for Sports Board Punjab shall guide users about the events, schedules, and other information. The applications provide users with the latest news, announcements, records, rankings, exclusive content from the Sports Board Punjab. The apps are the ultimate personal companion for getting Punjab Youth Festivals’ information on the move.

5) Project Title: Development of Biometric Attendance System for Punjab Youth Festival 2014

Description:

Sports Board Punjab needs a system that can help to ensure the attendance of the employees working in Punjab Sports board. And the system should eliminate fraud by employing hard-to-forge technologies and materials. E.g. minimize the opportunity for ID fraud, buddy punching secondly Eliminate problems caused by lost IDs or forgotten passwords by using physiological attributes. For example prevent unauthorized use of lost, stolen or "borrowed" ID cards and proxy attendance make it possible, Replace hard-to-remember passwords which may be shared or observed and help automatically, to know who did What, Where and When and Increase security, required a system that can ensure crowd attendance in an Sports festival event and Provide a convenient and low-cost additional tier of security. Biometrics system is a foolproof highly secured attendance system that logs all the attendance and entry/exit events and generates user friendly reports for review by management. Biometric Attendance Control System provides automated time and attendance control, which is designed to facilitate the employees as well as the Sports Board Punjab administration. Reports and alerts can be generated which display all the occurred events, processes and desired data. Biometric System works ideally with Human resource tool but is also compatible with any other employee database. Having a database at the back-end ensures no data loss or duplication and it keeps the visitor or employee record for a longer period of time.

“Sports Portal Punjab” is an enterprise grade management information system planned, designed and developed, for customized needs of the multi-disciplinary events information & management. It is a web and network-based application developed for the Government of Punjab. It is equally social, interactive communication portal, interconnected with call center to online services as well as provides huge searching features for detailed user requirements. The system assists the administrative agencies to develop a capacity building plan on sports under which the Sports department has started developing infrastructure, coaches and academics and spread it from district to tehsil and union council levels by the end of this year. The system has the quality of service and proper response to the public. This project is aimed at improving service delivery and Structural Reform in light of business process re-engineering for administrative body internal control resulting in improved Service Delivery. It has the core capable to address the maximum facilitation of mass public by providing most frequently updated information on multi-discipline events in various sectors in an effective and efficient manner. The system has a massive daily access rate with a variety of users accessing Portal for numerous online services e.g. Festival Information & Guidelines, Union Council, Tehsil, District Levels Schedules and Committees Detailed Information Access, Results, News, Galleries, Video, Links, Online Registration of more than 100 events with massive registration rates of more than 5-10k daily. It has successfully addressed 4 world class mega events conducted by the Government Agencies inclusive of Punjab Youth Festival 2012 (World’s Largest Festival) & Pakistan Corporate Guinness World Records at a grand scale and has already crossed a benchmark of 1.0 Million user hits in its first 3 months of deployment.

7) Project Title: Invoice Processing Automation System (I.P.A.S) Customization

Description:

KICS has developed the Software IPAS which is a network and web based application that covers the commercial and technical aspects as contained in the Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) 2002 entered in to between Company and National Transmission & Dispatch Company. The Sapphire Electric Company Limited intended for the Customization of IPAS as per its local requirements that facilitates the company in its future operations after the commercial operations date. The project scope covers the collection of the meter readings, weather station information, complex events information, etc. from the SECL power plant, located at Sheikupura Muridke Road, Lahore. This project also covers the scope of the integration of the IPAS software with the International Standards based system Oracle Financial & Company Pie Server in accordance with the customized requirements of the Client. Followed by the Implementation, support, training and maintenance of the customized IPAS for Orient Power containing all the modules and any additional modules of the application.

Description:

The IPAS is an Enterprise Management Information System being design and architecture for the CPPA, NTDC, WAPDA Pakistan. Under the Policy for Power Generation Projects, 2002 announced by the Government of Pakistan, NTDC has developed a new Standard Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the upcoming power projects. This new regime for projects came to surface which now revolves around the Availability Based, Data Processing and Invoicing System. In order to support this new regime of PPA, there is a demand identified for Data Processing and Invoice Processing Automation System (IPAS), which is an Enterprise Management Information System (EMIS). The objective is to implement the Rules and Regulations specified in the Standard Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) by NTDC, WAPDA Pakistan and Tariff Determination by NEPRA. The system will fetch data in real time from IPPs and process it in a central location. The system has been designed and developed recently and now it is in implementation phase in WAPDA

Description:

The basic objective of this system is monitor energy consumption, power load at common delivery points. Different communication mediums like PSTN, Ethernet, GPRS are used for the remote data acquisition from the Common Delivery Points. This will help for the management of load and assist Wapda to maintain a management consistency with the DISCOs. Real time data acqustion from CDPs for decision making releavant to the Demand Supply Gap and Load Shedding Management of the national power grid.

Description:

WAPDA intends to arrange for a remote system capable of measuring electricity consumption/customer usage, besides generating all other information and data needed to run its specific MIS, without those glitches inherent to the existing normal system. The system also plans to control the administrative losses i.e. pilferage, theft and stealing of energy, constricted recording due to improper installation of energy meters, by-passing of the same and other such internal and external features. The ‘AMR-API’ provides an application layer to communicate with meters using GSM unit “Telit GM862-GPRS” through micro controller ATMEL 89C52 Series. Using API, MIS can access meter parameters. The connectivity is provided using SMS. MIS can send short message request to meters individually and in response to the request meters reply with short message which is decoded by the API and required parameters are returned to the MIS. The JSF/J2EE based MIS includes implementation of the Existing Commercial Procedures for WAPDA. Also User Management, Equipment Management and Management of Tariff Categories are the integral parts of MIS.

Description:

This was a web based enterprise application, and was converted to “Struts for Java” architecture from Lotus Domino R5 based .NSF Databases. It was a Hospital Management System (ERP), it had different Modules. Jamshaid had worked on eight modules: Common Employee, Directory of Patients, Directory of Physicians, Administration and Case Management, Referral, Managed Care Insurance, Employers, Codes (4 Sub-Modules).All modules have been upgraded to IBM Web Sphere 5.1 from IBM WebSphere 3.5. The work in it also includes Ms SQL Server Stored Procedures, Views and user defined functions development.
