Dr.Ghalib Shah

Biography

Dr. Ghalib A. Shah received his B.Sc. degree with major Math and M.Sc degree in Computer Science from Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, Pakistan in 1997 and 2000 respectively and PhD degree in computer engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara Turkey in January 2007. He joined College of E&ME, National University of Sciences & Technology Islamabad as an Assistant Professor. He has been at School of Computer Science, Australian National University as a visiting fellow with Professor Weifa Liang. Later, Dr Shah joined Center for Advanced Research in Engineering (CARE), Islamabad as a member Technical Staff and lead various networking projects. He is also a recipient of COMSTECH-TWAS young researcher award, made in a highly competitive contest. He worked at the Next Generation Wireless Networks Lab, Koc University, Istanbul as a Research fellow from July 2011 to June 2012. Currently, he has joined Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science, University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, as an Associate Professor.

Research Interest

Cognitive Radio Ad hoc and Sensor Networks

Optimization of cross-layer spectrum, medium access and routing protocol to jointly achieve the high throughput with certain reliability and latency constraints. Multimedia Wireless Networks Designing a multi-hop cross-layer framework to jointly optimize the medium access, routing and source rate to support Quality of Service (QoS) requirement of multimedia applications. Wireless Sensor/Actor Networks Designing energy efficient protocols supporting QoS for diverse nature applications ranging from lesser reliable real-time (Multimedia or mission-oriented) to highly reliable demanding (Smart grids, industrial monitoring and control systems). Software Defined Networks Designing cross-layer QoS and Quality of Experience (QoE) mechanisms at control plane in software defined networks. Distributed Systems Cloud Infrastructure Optimization, Virtualization and Search Management.
