Problem Statement: In many ways of communication, gesture is considered to be one of the most natural way in a virtual reality system. There are many impaired people in the world and the communication between impaired and normal person is very challenging.

Solution: Considering the above problem, we develop a gesture recognition system. Hand gesture is one of the methods used in sign language for non-verbal communication. It is most commonly used by deaf & dumb people who have hearing or speech problems to communicate among themselves or with normal people. The glove is a normal, cloth driving glove fitted with flex sensors. The sensors output a stream of data that varies with degree of bend made by the fingers. Flex sensors are sensors that change in resistance depending on the amount of bend on the sensor. The proposed system will be able to recognize different hand gestures, and will make deaf-mute person a better quality of life to work in basic situations.
