Introduction to Datacom
Huawei UET Telecom & IT Center (HUTIC) accentuates remarkable collaboration between Huawei Technologies, China and UET Lahore. This technology transfer project was initiated to bridge the gap between industry and academia. Huawei Technogies has provided the centre with the latest GSM/GPRS/NGN equipment of worth 8.3 Million USD. The trainings are designed to technically equip the local and foreign engineering students and professionals from the telecom industry in Pakistan.Huawei Technologies signed a contract with UET, Lahore on 29th July, 2011 for a Regional Network academy. Under this contract UET Lahore is the authorized Learning Partner (HALP) of Huawei for Datacom Trainings and Certifications. Huawei under this contract is providing its latest networking equipment to UET Lahore worth of US$0.5M.
Infrastructure
The State-of-the-art system has been installed under one roof in a dust-free raised floor enclosure. Proper mechanism is used to monitor equipment room temperature and humidity, which meets the international standards. The center is equipped with more than forty work stations integrated with the system.
Highly Equipped Lab
This networking equipment will enable HUTIC to launch courses in networks area on Huawei equipment for the first time in Pakistan. Highly professional Lab for routing, switching and security (firewall) is available under the guidance of trained trainers.

Crash Course
HCDA and HCDP crash courses for beginner and professional are also available.For HCDA the crash course is of 24 hours and for HCDP the crash course is 24 hours for 3 modules mentioned above.

Highly trained professionals and faculty members of UET are available to guide trainees according to the market demand (Network & Telecom).
Linkages
Appreciating the significance of this Pak-China technology transfer, several prestigious universities of Pakistan have signed a memorandum of understanding with HUTIC for the training of their students & faculty.
Future Plans
Realizing the industrial requirements, HUTIC is also planning to offer more professionals level courses like HCDP Carrier and HCDE. In a further move to consolidate the research and development objective of the center, HUTIC instructors will also help students to complete their final project and thesis in the field of networks and telecom .
