High Performance Computing & Networking Lab
The High Performance Computing and Networking Lab (HPCNL) at KICS is established as a result of a research project won from the competitive National ICT R&D Fund, Pakistan, titled "Characterization, Evaluation, and Development of High Performance Network Services on Multi-core Architectures" in December 2007. It is equipped with a number of state-of-the-art multi-core processor based systems. These include 64 bit X86, PPC and MIPS64 systems. HPCNL also comprises of a cluster of 30 PCs with an infrastructure to expand the cluster to 200 PCs which is setup from KICS indigenous resources. All these facilities are connected through 1 Gbps Networks. The Lab was inaugurated by the Chairman Board of Governors KICS who is the Vice Chancellor of UET, Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Akram Khan together with Dr. Qasim Shiekh, CEO National ICT R&D Fund, on the 16th June 2008.
