OSS (Open-Source Software) has now come up as a cross-disciplinary paradigm for a large spectrum of computing applications. The brilliance of OSS is that it helps in a number of ways by keeping the software market away from the monopolies and providing innovative solutions. In addition to this, it helps the organizations to have control on the cost of development and deployment, and also helps them to be ahead in terms of technology and robustness. Open-Source Software is on way rather has changed the way software applications are architected, deployed and consumed, but also they are engineered to provide large distributed cross-platforms and frameworks. For distributed enterprise computing and e-government, OSS has now established a cross-disciplinary paradigm. Both government and non-government organizations are being felicitated by OSS for a through control on the cost of development and deployment.
Continuing with its history that dates back to 2006, ICOSST 2016 is all geared up to take place this time around once again on 15th to 17th December 2016 at KICS, University of Engineering and Technology Lahore. This three-day conference is organized by IEEE Computer Society Lahore Section in technical collaboration with KICS UET Lahore every year, where researchers and practitioners are invited from all corners of the world to share their ideas, works and experiences related to the state-of-the-art and the future of open-source software like virtualization, knowledge-bases, surveillance, automation, etc. ICOSST-2016 will create a scientific venue, where participants can share ideas, strategies, and policies for tackling the development, research and adaptation challenges related to open-source tools and open-source development environments for the customized and enterprise grade applications.
