Al - Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS), UET, Lahore is organizing a workshop with collaboration of IEEE CS and HEC on “Wireless receiver design using Software Defined Radio (SDR)”. The outline and schedule of the workshop is available at http://www.kics.edu.pk/ .
Date and Venue:
The workshop will begin on Monday, October 28 ( 3:30PM) and end at noon on Friday, November 01, 2013 at Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS), UET, Lahore.
The intended audience for this workshop is Final Year students of Electrical/Telecom or Computer Engineering. Nevertheless, fresh graduates or early career researchers are also particularly welcome to t his workshop.
The objective of this workshop is to provide hands-on experience with designing and developing software defined radio based systems. Moreover, the audience will get the opportunity to learn how to build modern and state-of-the art wireless receiver using USRPs and GNU Radio Platform in real-time settings. Participation in this workshop will help the audience to enhance their software and hardware skills and thus will be beneficial in the current job market.
Dr. Muhammad Mahboob-ur-Rahman is the key speaker of this workshop. He has been working as a researcher in wireless group of Nokia Research Centre, Berkeley, CA, USA since May 2013. He has recently completed his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA. His recent research interests include distributed MIMO, software-defined radios for rapid prototyping of novel wireless concepts, stability of consensus based algorithms. He has a vast experience in design and development of SDR modems, wireless camera sensor networks and digital filters. He has published several journal articles and presented his results in international conferences and seminars. He got best demo award at I EEE International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Systems, 2012.
The registration fee is Rs.1000 /- (non-refundable) for each participant, UET students & IEEE CS members will be granted a special concession of 50%.
