  • LAHORE (23 rd November, 2017) The closing ceremony of UET Lahore and FSK (Pvt) Ltd’s joint venture – ICECE 2017, the international conference on energy conservation, took place at Flattei’s hotel Lahore on 23 rd November where the chief guest was Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan (education minister Punjab) and the guest of honor was Ch. Sher Ali, provincial minister for energy. Other distinguished guests included Muhammad Hamid Shwehdi (King Fahad University Saudi Arabia), Ms. Maha Kamal (Queen Marry University London), Dr. M. Akbar Hussain (Aalborg University Denmark) and Prof. Nizhie Ayas from Turkey). Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid (Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology Lahore)), Prof. Dr. Waqar Mahmood (Director CERAD UET) and Mr. Rao Ahmad Khalid (MD FSK Pvt Ltd) also attended the ceremony.

    26 countries participated in this international energy conference and from 13 countries, the invited speakers came to attend it. The conference featured technical talks, presentations and panel discussions on the topic of energy and conservation. Leading industries of the country placed their stalls in the industrial exhibition which was the part of this conference.

    Rana Mashood Khan, in his speech, said that overcoming on the energy crisis was the utmost need, and arranging the energy conference was required. He appreciated the efforts of the UET and FSK to conduct this international conference. He also mentioned that the government had started a number of projects to overcome energy crisis together with academia. Mashood also mentioned “He is giving surety on behalf of chief minister Shahbaz Sharif that the government will support fully in energy crisis if the institutions and UET are willing to work together to overcome this crisis.”

    Ch. Sher Ali said that Pakistan was suffering the energy crisis a lot. He mentioned that government had become enable to overcome this crisis. Sher Ali revealed that the government had started LNG projects which will help overcome the problems of energy in the country. He talked about the solar projects launched in Bahawalpur and in other parts of the region. He said that the government had started using the solar energy in schools, universities and offices to help conserve the energy.

    Vice Chancellor UET Prof Fazal Ahmad Khalid shared his views on energy crisis and energy conservation.

    Dr. Waqar Mahmood gave an overview of this two-day energy conference and also told about the technical talks done at the conference during the conference. He thanked the chief guests and the invited speakers who came from all over the world to attend the conference.

    FSK Pvt Ltd’s Managing Director shared his views on the energy crisis in the country and also thanked the chief guests. Other honorable international guests too shared their views on the conference.

    Education minister Punjab Rana Mashood and Energy minister Punjab Ch. Sher Ali presented the souvenirs and shields to the guests, industry personnel and the organizers of the event. Vice Chancellor presented the souvenirs to Rana Mashood and Ch. Sher Ali.
